The Federal Government has directed the total closure of all land borders ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Isah Jere, announced the closure in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Tony Akuneme, the Service Public Relations Officer, signed the statement.

Jere was quoted as saying that all land borders should be effectively closed from 12 midnight on Saturday, Feb. 25 to 12 midnight on Sunday, Feb. 26.
“All command comptrollers, especially those in the border states, are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive,” the statement read in part.
