Gunmen have abducted the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Bayelsa State, Mrs Gloria Izonfuo.
The Police spokesperson in Rivers, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the abduction on Monday.
Iringe-Koko said Izonfuo was abducted on Sunday alongside her driver and maid at the Ogbakiri Junction on the East-West Road.
The trio were returning to Port Harcourt after a trip to Brass in Bayelsa when gunmen abducted them.
Iringe-Koko added that the Police Force has deployed tactical teams to rescue them.
Izonfuo is formerly the Head of Civil Service in Bayelsa.
The abductors have demanded N500 million ransom for the release of their victims.
Izonfuo had been at the centre of pre-census activities in Bayelsa in the last two weeks.
