From Omobolanle Ridwan, Makurdi
The Federal Government has pledged a conducive business and regulatory environment for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive and prosper in the country’s economy.
TheNewsZenith reports that Vice President Kassim Shettima made the pledge at the commissioning of Ultra-Modern MSME Fashion Clinic & ICT Hubs in Makurdi, Benue State.
Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff represented the Shettima at the occasion.
Shettima expressed confidence that the hub would match global standards as it can potentially create about 48,000 jobs annually.
He commended the speed at which the hub was built after the MSMEs Clinic. This, he said, was an indication that President Bola Tinubu’s promises to entrepreneurs are not mere rhetoric.
“Today, as we commission this dual-purpose MSME Clinic, we bear witness to two critical truths.
“First, it proves that our promises to entrepreneurs are not mere rhetoric.
“Secondly, it affirms that the most durable interventions we can achieve as a government are born from strong intergovernmental partnerships.
“We are happy to witness the fruition of these projects. It is an honour that I am part of this milestone,” the VP said.
He noted that the Benue MSME Hub is one of the largest ever that the federal government has commissioned.
According to Shettima, the hub has over 200 cutting-edge equipment to support fashion manufacturing and more than 100 ICT devices.
“This hub can ramp up production, provide ICT training and achieve economies of scale.

“It has the machinery to produce a wide range of fashion items.
“Such items include military uniforms, school uniforms, and corporate wear both for Benue State and beyond.
“Beyond providing this cluster, the hub will also house a one-stop shop where MSMEs can engage directly with Federal Government agencies to resolve their regulatory issues.”
The VP noted that the “one-stop shop” hub would ensure that businesses requiring support or services from some agencies such as NAFDAC, BOA and others, could be attended to under one roof.
Also speaking, Joseph Utsev, Water Resources and Sanitation Minister, thanked President Tinubu and his Vice for their love for Nigerians.
He also applauded the duo for fulfilling their campaign promises, which would make life meaningful for Nigerians.
In his welcome address, Benue Gov. Hyacinth Alia thanked the federal government for fulfilling the promise to establish a fashion and MSME hub in the state.
“The project represents more than just an infrastructure. It is an embodiment of our collective vision for a prosperous, creative and empowered Benue State.
“Your visit to Benue State, for the second time in less than six months, is a testament to the partnership between Benue State and the federal government. We deeply appreciate it.
“The Benue State fashion hub, which is your initiative, is a cornerstone
of our administration’s agenda to promote creativity and foster innovation.
It will also create employment and provide opportunity for our people,” Alia said.
